Michelle can’t really remember a time that she didn’t want to teach – it was one of her favorite “games” to play as a child, and she must give a shout out to all the neighborhood kids that endured all her lessons in the little attic classroom all those years ago! She eventually went on to do a whole bunch of different things like be a dental assistant, copywriter, paralegal and professional actress before hearing her very particular calling into the education world, which came as an opportunity to create and facilitate a yearlong “coming of age” curriculum for 8th graders at her church.
In the 7 years of being a part of that amazing journey, she also attended Kennesaw State University and received a degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Science and Social Science, as well as certification as a Reading Specialist. After graduation, Michelle spent time teaching Reading and Theater Arts in public middle school. Somewhere in there she received her M.F.A. in Creative Writing with a concentration in Poetry from Lesley University. She is so excited to make the move from middle school to the elementary grades where the magic of learning and creating begins, and cannot wait to walk the path of discovery alongside her students!
When not in the classroom, Michelle loves having land and sea adventures with her family and friends, taking photographs, writing poems, being an amateur gourmet and avid baker, listening to music, watching almost all sports and being outdoors in any capacity.
