Are you looking for a fun way to get your child out into the community and help them stay active this fall? Running MATES may be your answer.
Running MATES is a running and social skills training program for children with autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. Their mission is to be a positive sports team experience and provide a foundation for physical fitness for children who have difficulty with social interaction, such as children with high functioning autism spectrum disorders and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.
Running MATES is a weekly running group for children ages 5 to 12 who have difficulty with social interaction, such as high functioning autism spectrum disorders (“ASD”), like Asperger Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified, Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder. Running MATES is not just a running group, it is an opportunity to open the door to social interaction with other children, increase self-esteem and succeed in a mainstream sport. We love that they are committed to helping kids learn social skills and train for a 5K race
